The NALC Health Benefit Plan 2025

After months of mailings and articles about the impending changes associated with the 2025 Health Benefits Open Season we are finally here. Open season begins on Monday November 11 and closes at the end of Monday December 9. Now is the chance for active and retired letter carriers to review their plans and benefits and compare plans. Taking the time to do so can be an issue but doing so could improve your coverages and wallets by switching to the NALC Health Benefit Plan (NALCHBP).

Premium rates for the NALCHBP for 2025 are as follows:

Our partner networks are what helps separate us from the other Health Plans. The CIGNA Open Access Network is our provider network. By logging onto NALCHBP.org you can see if your Doctors and Facilities are in network. Just click onto the CIGNA OAP link, type in your home zip code and then enter your doctor’s name or facility. CVS Caremark is our longtime prescription partner including the Medicare Part D Silver Script Program which is exclusive to the NALC plan. Optum is our mental health and substance abuse treatment partner. They also offer Solutions for Caregivers for those of us caring for elderly relatives, disabled loved ones, friends or neighbors. The BEND program is a live video based behavioral coaching program to support children and their families who need help in this area. A couple of free programs can also help our members and their families. Quit For Life is a program offering patches, nicotine gum and support for those trying to shake the tobacco habit. Real Appeal helps any of us the tools to form healthier habits and stick to it.

Hinge Health is a program that can help with musculoskeletal issues to avoid and relieve joint pain in the comfort of your home at no cost. Also, there is Hello Heart which helps you monitor your blood pressure and send the data privately to your doctor. Again, no cost to you.

The Postal Service Health Benefit Plan (PSHBP) information can be found on the Office of Personnel (OPM) website www.opm.gov. You can see which plans are available and also the brochures for 2025. We have been informed that there are expected delays in printing the new brochures for all plans in the PSHBP so this is where to find them. The NALC brochure is also available on the NALCHBP website www.nalchbp.org.

One more thing, all employees and retirees will have to set up a login portal with OPM in order to make any changes going forward whether active or retired. Everyone should have already received a letter from OPM regarding their current plan and the login information. Anyone with trouble doing this or who may not have received this information should call 1-844-451-1261.

Whishing good health and Happy Holidays to all!
